[Indie-ducing] – Gang Beasts – Boneloaf

 

The Team

Boneloaf is a small independent game studio with members and contributors working in the UK and USA. Currently we are making a series of experimental multiplayer party games built with a custom force manipulated character animation and pose system.

The Game

Gang Beasts is a Multiplayer Co-op Party Game with psuedo-ragdoll physics and multi-stage boss fights and set in the fictional Beef City. Gang Beasts is influenced by classic mêlée fighting games such as Capcom’s Final Fight games, Sega’s Streets of Rage and Golden Axe series, Konami’s Crime Fighters, and Taito’s Double Dragon and Renegade games, the cartoon violence of Chuck Jones, John Kricfalusi, William Hanna, and Joseph Barbera, and the stylised aesthetics and music of Walter Hill’s The Warriors, John Carpenter’s Escape from New York, and Paul Michael Glaser’s The Running Man.

My Experience

Sadly I didn’t get to play the game for long or even get to met the team at Rezzed, mainly because they were swamped with interviews and fans of the Gang Beasts game. So I hope to be able to play this game another time or at home, maybe even stream it 🙂

*** Update ***

The Boneloaf team were at Insomnia 51 and this time I got the chance to meet the team behind Gang Beasts. I immediately became close friends with each of the team. They even invited me to join them when they were demonstrating the game on the Exhibitors stage. Upon I quickly started entertaining everyone watching with my silly antics and game play style. There was even a #GetGreen campaign during the last play through as to that point I was undefeated, I still finished on top mocking all those that opposed me!  I dubbed my self “Noaksey – Puts the Beast in Gang Beasts” #GetGreen
